Britain: In rape cases, a feminist presumption of victimhood obstructs justice

May 22nd, 2011 Modified: June 12, 2011 at 12:46 am

Radical feminists are always trying to expand the definition of rape as well as the notion that the man should always be presumed guilty.  If found not guilty, he still is guilty, well because he is a man.

Victimology goes something like this: “Without victims, there is no wrong to right, no cause to fight for, no oppressors, nothing to defeat, there is no biblical battle between good and evil, nothing to feel good about yourself for anymore.  Therefore, you must forever continue to create victims, even if none exist.”

“Ever-present is a ‘feminist’ view which leans towards always treating the woman as victim and always identifying the crime as rape” — Mary Dejevsky

Swell.

Also there is an excellent dissertation on this subject by Alison Convery, School of Economics, Politics and Tourism University of Newcastle entitled:

“No Victims, No Oppression: Feminist Theory and the Denial of Victimhood”

From the Abstract:

“This paper examines feminists’ engagement with victim discourse in the light of backlash criticism of claims to victim status by women and other disadvantaged groups at the height of the debates about ‘political correctness’ in the early 1990s. Feminists were criticised for supposedly positioning women in a perpetual state of ‘victimhood’ with respect to institutionalised male oppression.”

From the Introduction:

“Feminists have long debated the advantages and risks of claiming victim status as part of political strategies aimed at securing women’s political and social rights.”
