Obama still taking victory laps while questions over “Osama Takedown” remain unanswered

There is a debate raging about how much credit Obama deserves, or should take concerning the Navy SEALs killing of Osama bin-Laden. Obama certainly got a nifty boost in the polls this week and it seems he is playing it for all it’s worth and for as long as he can anyway.

He is headed off to Texas of all places today in an attempt to parlay his recent political capital gains into an attempt to have it both ways on immigration, and oh, yes, to pick up some cool cash at a fund-raiser while he is at it, of course.

“Far be it from Power Play to suggest that President Obama is overconfident about his bin Laden kill bounce, but campaigning in Texas? Dang, man.”
– Fox News Power Play

About Obama’s Texas trip:

“Obama will head to the U.S.-Mexico border today to tout his administration’s efforts to deal with crime caused by illegal immigrants and to enhance border security.” — Fox News

There has been some talk that George Bush somehow grew weary over the hunt for OBL as the years past. My guess is that Bush would have given his left, well, arm, to have gotten OBL before he left office. He certainly would not need 16 hours to think it over. My guess is that he played down the importance of getting OBL was because he was accused of having nothing else on his mind and ignoring other issues. He also may have been attempting to get OBL to lower his guard a bit.

It’s clear that the water-boarding, begun under Bush, as part of an overall process of the interrogation of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed know as “KSM”, (also called “KFC” by his fellow Gitmo Muslim detainees for his appetite and because he has put on so much weight after his capture) was pivotal in getting KSM to give up the courier that eventually led to the location of OBL. The question is, however, if KSM was captured under Obama, would we have the same results?

I doubt it.

Therefore, Bush deserves credit for beginning the process, Obama merely was president at the right time.

Obama, far from living up to his “transparency” campaign pledge, makes matters worse by sending mixed messages about his stand on handling terrorists and allowing serious questions about the “takedown” to remain unanswered.

A more skillful leader would not have allowed them to arise in the first place, but it seems with Obama that from his early “acting stupidly” to his ground zero Mosque flip-flops, he often sets his mouth in motion prior to checking to see if his brain is engaged. He seems to have an opinion on everything and is determined to express it despite the constant after-taste of shoe leather.

Alan Keyes writes in WorldNetDaily (wnd.com)

“Following the track of events in America’s governmental and political life these days is like reading Pravda in the heyday of Soviet Communism.”

Keyes’ main point is that the “takedown” merely distracts us from all Obama’s other failures and destructive agenda especially in the Middle East. The obfuscation, conflicting story lines and the “mystification of bin Laden’s fate” only ads to the distraction. I would add that the Obama administration has raised distraction to a high art form, and it seems to be working well for him.

What liberals and Obama supporters don’t want to admit is that Obama’s motives, decisions and policies are not always the best for our country. Remember Obama came from the sewer that is Chicago style politics. On his way up the short ladder he was handed, he was not above stepping quite nastily on others, employing dirty tricks and lying quite often.

Yes, other politicians lie, but Obama is very different from just about any politician or president we have had. Foremost is his desire to radically transform America into something quite horrific.

He would gladly destroy capitalism and even welcome riots al la Greece and London if it helped his dream of a Utopian socialist Marxist society. Furthermore  he is very insidious, extremely deceptive and cunning and he has surrounded himself with other like creatures and placed many of them in key positions in our government. And to top it off, his incompetence is only exceeded by his arrogance and his “do as I say” view about others.

While other politicians may lie to get elected, for personal greed and self-serving motives, what makes Obama so dangerous is that he lies chiefly to further his cause, not just to get re-elected.  To him, the ends justifies the means.

While the killing of OBL may seem swell, and cast Obama in a new or different light for some, it is only one piece in a complex political game of chess.  It might be something like “fake right and swing left”.  Obama’s actions and words have to be taken in this context. I’m sure the 16 hours it took for him to make the call was spent debating if killing OBL would help or hurt him and his cause, not if it was the right thing to do, was there risk to our troops or if it was good for the Nation, at least for the Nation as it is viewed by most loyal constitution-loving Americans.

Keyes ends his article cleverly with this:

“…now more than ever the relevance of Ronald Reagan’s famous maxim – trust, but verify. Perhaps in these parlous times, we must add a codicil: Distrust, but do not despair.”

I would add, not quite so eloquently, “do not despair, or become distracted either.”
